Inspirations

Roy Lichtenstein

Roy Lichtenstein is an American artist who originally got his start in the 1960’s. He was heavily influenced by the pop culture era, and went on to contribute to the era.  He is well known for his ‘comic-book-esque’ style. My favourites of his are from his Interior series, where he drew inspiration from everyday furniture advertisements to make bold, colourful interior paintings. He used tape and various cutouts to get the popart effects he wanted across his paintings.

Polly Shindler

Polly Shindler is a NY-based artist whose work I very much admire. Her still-life painting of everyday ordinary moments stuns me. When she isn’t painting beautiful works, she is sculpting them from paper mache and then painting them just as beautifully.

Esther Pearl Watson

Ester Pearl Watson is an American painter and cartoonist based in LA. Her intricate paintings all tell a story, whether literally or through the eye of the beholder. This makes these paintings feel almost personal. During the 2020 COVID pandemic, she made a lot of art depicting these times and the confusion that was going through everyone’s heads.
